Canne de CombatCane-fighting has a long history in Europe, both as a form of self defence, and as a safer form of practice for bladed weapons, such as the sabre. Canne de Combat is a fighting sport using a cane 95cm in length, and weighing about 120gm. Fighters wear padded clothing and head protection - the targets are the head, the lower leg, and (for men only) the flank. The strikes are delivered with the sides of the weapon and not with the point. The technical rules are strict, strikes will only score if delivered correctly.
